Mouse Hunter

This beautiful goanna or Australian Monitor Lizard is having his fill of one of the countless mice terrorising us at the moment. If you look well, you can still see the little tail of the mouse dangling out, just before it got swallowed whole…

He has an interesting camouflage pattern, all bands and lighter colours, very much unlike I’ve seen them so far. A big guy too, quite a bit over a meter long.

Goanna’s are harmless to humans. Although we’ve been teaching the kids to be very calm around them, a fright has them running for the nearest tree. A good response you would say.

In absence of a tree they might use you instead though, with that kind of manicure (clawnicure?), rather not…
