Afternoon tea with kids

Cupcakes, you can wake up Sophie in the middle of the night for them. Or she will wake you up 5 'o clock in the morning, ready to make some. She must have found the hearts and flowers I found on sale the previous day.

Annabel Langbein, the writer of my favourite cookbooks, has a simple but delicious recipe, no mixer required (link). The frosting in the recipe looks divine, but some crushed raspberries for colour and icing sugar will give you a perfect thin layer of icing, just enough to glue the decorations in place. (How high do you want your sugar high to be?)

I like using (frozen) raspberries and blueberries to decorate with some sweets and sprinkles thrown in for the "professional" look. Great entertainment for the kids, and afternoon tea for the rest of the week sorted.
