The river keeps falling, a couple more days and the roads might reopen again for travel to the South. At the moment it's mostly boats and helicopters trying to make deliveries for the towns. In a lot of places stores are starting to run low on perishables like fruit, veggies and milk. With Brisbane as our own major transport centre, restocking might take awhile. Even so, a lot of the harvest has been washed into the river, farmers might be more interested growing rice this year...
Anyone starting a veggie patch on higher ground? I can very much recommend: "The Permaculture Home Garden" by Linda Woodrow. Fantastic book, very practical and I love the fact that you let nature do all the hard work. Review on: http://www.tropicalpermaculture.com/permaculture-home-garden.html
