Dragon Boat Races

Check out the purple in the background, that’s a Jacaranda Tree. Most streets in Grafton are lined with them (hence the name Jacaranda City). They are all in flower at the moment, the start of the Jacaranda Festival! A whole month of celebrations, carnivals, parades, and activities. Highlight of this weekend: The annual Jacaranda Dragon Boat Races (and crowing of the Jacaranda Queen if you’re into that kind of stuff).
Sander and I both ended up in a boat for (Tims) Jacaranda Preschool team in the community competition. A quick training session on Friday evening since we were all new to this and of we went. So much fun! We ended up in the final, were we came third, very proud of ourselves. We lost from a team of personal trainers but did beat the team from the local gym.

Photo’s by Mel Teni, mum of those two adorable kids.
