A dragon in the garden

Our garden comes with a lot of “pets”, a tree snake that stays close to the house (link), a blue tongued lizard (link), a huge goanna near the tree house, countless diamond tailed gecko’s inside the house catching mozzies and of course the many birds, wallabies and roos. All very friendly.
This one we’ve seen before, keeping Tim company playing on the wood chip pile, just a cute lizard we thought.
Until Tim, accidentally, almost stepped on him, it turned into a monster!
Well… a bearded dragon. As a defence they open their mouth (bright yellow) and grow a beard and a shield to scare predators away.
It worked, Tim was up in the tree in seconds and squealing like a little piggie!!!
These Eastern Bearded Dragons are absolutely harmless, often kept as pets for kids.
