Weekend in Singleton

Sander has worked his first week
in Singleton, a very busy week in his first solo-practice.
The house is fantastic, a very big Queenslander with a pool and grand views.
No hospital duties this weekend gives us time to discover the Hunter Valley, famous for it's wines, nice eateries and beautiful nature. Sadly enough it's also infamous for it's open coal mines that leave big craters in the landscape.
The Saturday we head to the Hunter Valley Gardens, it's spring time with an explosion of colours. At a local winery we have lunch, the fame is deserved...

On Sunday we drive to Yengo National Park a hike a part of the Convict Trail. A couple of meters on to the trail this big Goanna (below) shot past me and into the tree.

I fall in love of this very quiet and rural part of the Valley around Wollombi. The town itself is love on first sight, with the best pasta dish I have ever had (and we just got back from Italy)!
